Privacy

Field Bible has no account, no server holding your reading, and no analytics. What you read, write, highlight and mark stays on your device, and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud.

This policy covers the Field Bible app for iPhone and iPad and the website at bible.chillnowllc.com, both published by Chill Now LLC.

What the app keeps, and where

Everything the app records is stored inside the app on your own device:

iCloud

On an iPhone or iPad signed in to iCloud with iCloud Drive on, the app keeps a copy of what it records in the app’s own space in your iCloud, so that your other devices signed in to the same iCloud have the same reading, notes and marks. Only your devices read that copy. It is held by Apple under your iCloud account and Apple’s privacy policy; we have no access to it and never receive it. The text size, font and appearance stay with each device.

You can turn this off in the app’s Settings, under iCloud. Your devices then stop sharing anything new; what is already in iCloud stays until you remove it in the Settings app, under your name, iCloud, Manage Storage.

Search and the widget

On an iPhone or iPad, the app adds the books of the Bible and your notes to the device’s own search, Spotlight, so you can find them from there, and gives the Today widget the day’s reading. Both stay on the device: Spotlight’s index is kept by iOS on the device itself, and nothing is sent to us or anyone else.

What we collect

Nothing. There is no analytics, no crash reporting, no advertising identifier and no tracking of any kind in the app or on the website. We cannot see who you are, what you have read, or whether you use the app at all.

There is no account to create, so there is nothing to sign in to and no profile to delete.

What leaves your device

The Scripture text, commentary, maps and the Greek and Hebrew are bundled with the app and need no connection. Three things are fetched while you read:

The website

bible.chillnowllc.com is a chapter a day from the Gospels and Acts. It stores nothing on your device: no cookies, no local storage, no service worker and no database. The chapter, its commentary and its notes come from the website itself as you tap; its pictures and narration come from the same two places as in the app, above.

If you used the earlier web app, your reading is still in the browser you read it in, and nowhere else. The backup page on the website reads it there and saves it as a file for the app; nothing is sent to us.

Your own backups

Settings has an export that writes everything the app holds to a JSON file you choose the destination for. That file is yours: we never receive it. Importing one replaces what is in the app.

Deleting the app deletes its database with it. With iCloud on, the copy in your iCloud stays, and comes back when you install the app again; without it, export first if you want to keep your reading.

Buying the app

The app is bought once, from the App Store. Apple takes the payment and we never see your payment details — Apple reports only aggregate sales to us, with no way to connect a purchase to a person.

Children

The app is suitable for all ages. It collects nothing from anyone, children included, and has no advertising, no messaging and no links a reader can be tracked through.
